Splendid hand carved Christ in Ivory.

Circa 17 thC.French.

Rare expression of the face. Great Quality hand carved His body is dressed in a périzonium with simple folds. No crown on the head. Opened mouth. The sculpture is executed with realisme and delicacy.
Ivory beautifully preserved .

The ivory is very heavy and has gread old patina.

Measures, Ivory christ,
Of the head on the toes, 12 inch = 30 cm.
Fingers on the toes, 13.5 inch = 34 cm.
Fingers to fingers, 9 inch = 23 cm.
The cross wood, 25 x 11 inch = 63 x 28 cm.
